O2A Data Flow Framework
Welcome to O2A the Data Flow Framework from Observations to Analysis and Archives.
We are currently improving and restructuring our documentation here. Please also read our previous documentation.
Background
The Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI) Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research has been committed over decades to develop and sustain an eResearch infrastructure for coherent discovery, view, dissemination, and archival of scientific data and related information in polar and marine regions. In order to address the increasing heterogeneity of research platforms and respective devices and sensors along with varying project-driven requirements, a generic and modular framework has been built intended to support the flow of sensor observations to archives (O2A) (Koppe et al, 2015). O2A supports the scientific workflows by providing data streaming and transfer solutions to a collaborative workspace ecosystem along with modern analytical tools and infrastructure. Adopting FAIR data principles, the World Data Center PANGAEA ensures data preservation and the various portal solutions provide integrative one-stop-shop frameworks for discovering and re-using the existing metadata, data and data products.

Account, Authentication, and Login
Use the credentials of your home institution to authenticate, when it is listed within the following networks:
If this is not the case (or you have other reasons to avoid the above mentioned) the services of ORCID, github or google can be facilitated too.
Please be aware that your home institution (or github / orcid) only ships an email address to authenticate against. It does not automagically link your verified email address to your first name, last name, institution, orcid, or whatsoever. That means in return, user information such as first name, last name, home institution, etc. still needs to be provided and kept on the o2a-data.de side.
To enrich your personal information please log in, go to the parental side o2a-data.de and choose "Settings" on the top-right side.

You can provide several information in the following step. Besides your name and institution you can specify your institution url. It does not necessarily need to be the home url, it could be your personal institution page as well. Furthermore, we strongly encourage you to submit your ORCID.

That is also the place to create authentication tokens. They are needed to facilitate the application programming interfaces, e.g. REGISTRY API.
